Early 19th-century painted plaster walls—murals, freehand brushwork, and stenciled plaster—are treasures of American folk art. In this presentation, Linda Lefko will introduce the various types of early painted wall decoration in New England homes and share research and documentation efforts from the past thirty years, revealing some never-before-seen examples.
Linda Lefko is a practicing historic decorative painter and restorer with over forty years of experience. She is a founding member of the Center for Painted Wall Preservation (CPWP) in Hallowell, Maine, a nationally recognized not-for-profit organization dedicated to the research, documentation, and preservation of eighteenth and early nineteenth century paint-decorated plaster walls.
