N.H. Preservation Alliance Seeks Seven to Save Nominations

Nominations are now open for the New Hampshire Preservation Alliance’s Seven to Save. The program focuses attention and resources on significant historic properties in New Hampshire that are under-used or threatened by neglect, insufficient funds, or unsympathetic development. Deadline for nominations is Friday September 9th at 12PM. The nominations for Seven to Save list are now available and the announcement will be made in October.

Criteria for selection include: historical significance, imminence of threat, and potential impact of listing a site. Anyone can make a nomination.

To date, over 100 significant places have been listed to Seven to Save, with more than half saved. Many owners and advocates for the former listees used the designation to help secure new ideas and investments. Recent successes include the revitalization and rehabilitation of Chase’s Mill in Alstead, Parker J. Noyes Building in Lancaster and Kelley Corner School House in Gilmanton.

Many are still working on solutions; a few have been lost. If you have questions about the program, or think a certain building would benefit from such a designation, contact seventosave@nhpreservation.org or by calling the office at (603) 224-2281.
