Triple Decker, A New England Love Story is an in-progress documentary film about the New England-based form of affordable, working class, often immigrant-settled housing units, known as "three deckers" or "triple deckers." In this virtual talk, Marc Levitt, the film director, discusses these structures' history, architecture, construction, owners, tenants, and neighbors and explores the role they played in New England history. Through their architectural DNA, these three-floor buildings provided—and still provide—shelter, a degree of economic stability, and the opportunity to maintain aspects of one's background while navigating the nuances of a new culture.
