Expo on the Road | Snug as a Bug in a Rug: Insulation and Ventilation for Historic Homes

Learn about the wide range of available materials and approaches to improving energy efficiency and comfort in historic houses and why proper ventilation is critical to the health of the house and its occupants.

Scott T. Hanson of Topsham, ME has thought deeply about the renovation of historic homes in his 40 years as a designer, carpenter, municipal historic district regulator, historic preservation consultant, and architectural historian. His own 15-year renovation of a historic house, doing much of the work himself, has allowed him to put his ideas to the test and to learn from his mistakes while accumulating the library of how-to photos that illustrates this talk. Scott is a Senior Associate with the Boston office of MacRostie Historic Advisors and author of the award-winning book, Restoring Your Historic House, The Comprehensive Guide for Homeowners.
