Opportunity to Rent and Care For Old House in Windham, NH

Check out this unique opportunity to rent and care for a historic house! The Town of Windham (NH) is seeking a tenant interested in rehabilitating a 1868 Italianate farmhouse in exchange for a long-term lease. According to architectural historian James Garvin, the design of this house is unusual, reflecting both the wealth and intellectual curiosity of its builder, Deacon Samuel Campbell Sr. (1819-1902).   It is characterized by high-quality building materials, and innovative design and technology.

The 64 acre parcel was purchased and conserved by the Town three years ago.  The house is surrounded by open fields on a winding country road yet within minutes of I-93 in southern New Hampshire. The house retains much of its original integrity including windows, doors and casings all of which are a high priority to preserve.  The four bedroom/two bathroom house is in livable condition but needs updating. A new tenant will be selected through an open and competitive Request for Proposal (RFP) process. Interested parties are invited to tour the Campbell farm house. Proposals are due Wednesday, July 12, 2017. Questions? Contact Jim Finn at 603-890-6587, 603-490-9108 or jwfinn@comcast.net. View RFP at http://www.windhamnewhampshire.com/.
