New Hampshire Preservation
Alliance to Highlight Endangered Properties
The
Preservation Alliance has received nominations from all over the
state for its new Seven to Save program. "The range of
resources and number of nominations was much greater than we
anticipated," said Jennifer Goodman, Executive Director of the
Alliance. The goal of the program is to help draw public
attention and resources to endangered properties and preservation
issues. It is modeled on a national program that has selected
the Wentworth-by-the-Sea hotel in New Castle and the Daniel Webster
Farm in Franklin.
The list
will be announced at the Preservation Alliance's annual meeting
on Tuesday, October 17 at 5 p.m. at the Webster Farm in Franklin.
Contact us at 603-224-2281 or bt@nhpreservation.org for
reservations.
The Preservation Alliance will
utilize the listing to educate and advocate for the preservation of
these buildings, highlighting their historical and architectural
significance, while also working to stimulate local discussion and problem-solving
tactics. The Seven to Save
program will also bring attention to broader
issues of historic preservation in the state, such as abandonment
of neighborhood schools and churches, demolition of barns, and
effects of sprawl, to name a few.
